About the Job
The Merchandise Planner will play a critical role in driving sales, profitability, and inventory efficiency through strategic planning and analysis. In this role, you will develop and maintain merchandise planning models, translate financial goals into actionable product-level strategies, and partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across seasonal strategies and business objectives. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
Planning & Forecasting:
- Build and maintain merchandise planning models incorporating historical trends, seasonality, promotions, and growth assumptions.
- Translate financial targets into product-level sales and inventory plans that align with business goals.
- Monitor performance against plan, providing insights and recommendations to optimize sales, margin, and inventory productivity.
Analysis & Reporting:
- Track and report on key metrics including sell-through, margin, inventory turns, weeks of supply, and budget adherence.
- Create actionable reporting tools and dashboards to support cross-functional decision-making.
- Conduct post-season analyses to capture learnings and inform future strategies.
- Maintain organized archives of historical data for trend analysis and planning reference.
Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Partner with Merchandising to provide style- and category-level productivity insights that inform assortment and buying decisions.
- Collaborate with Inventory Planning on allocation and replenishment strategies that maximize profitability.
- Work closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Design, Wholesale, and E-Commerce teams to align seasonal strategies, product launches, and milestone timelines.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Extensive experience in merchandise planning.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP or planning tools a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
